Ask the Experts: 3 matching expert responses

Question At my FE college I work with a group of students with special needs. Recently a student transferred to us from a college nearby, where she did a very similar course. Sadly, she is finding it almost impossible to keep up with the work, and when I contacted her previous tutor he said she had failed it. Her parents insisted that she took this course, but she needs one more suited to her abilities. How do you manage expectations of parents and students so they don't take inappropriate courses?

Question The VLE is being introduced in secondary schools so pupils' courses can be accessed through their own home page. Unfortunately the design of the VLE appears to be not very accessible to visually impaired pupils using access software. Was anybody responsible for checking access issues before VLEs were introduced into schools, or is it going to be another example of trying to find a fix later on?
